Specific information and problem solving will be covered in new employee orientation, as well as ongoing training and supervision.
Position Summary:
The Residential Safety Staff, like the Youth Care Worker, provides supervision and direction to adolescents and young adults in a residential program. The Residential Safety Staff maintains campus security, ensuring the safety of and providing support to residents, staff and visitors.
Essential Responsibilities:
Maintain and ensure the safety of all residents in the group homes at all times
Provide campus security
Survey the entire property regularly during shift
Report issues and concerns to appropriate person
Determine if residents are where they belong
Monitor and assist visitors
Mentor new staff
Ensure all windows and doors are locked
Make sure all vans are accounted for and locked
Maintain cleanliness and order in common areas. Report damages and maintenance issues (broken furniture, light fixture, appliance, clogged plumbing, etc.) immediately
In the absence of the Group Home Manager or other supervisor would assume the lead during a crisis situation and would direct the actions of the other Youth Care staff who are involved.
Ability and willingness to assume Youth Care Worker responsibilities when needed (those responsibilities are included in the Residential Safety Staff job description).
